June 20, 2025 Mekelle, (Tigray Mass Media Agency) The ongoing rally of internally displaced persons (IDPs) entered its third consecutive day today in Mekelle, the capital of Tigray. Thousands of IDPs, primarily from Western Tigray and other occupied areas, gathered at Romanat Square to demand immediate return to their homes and full implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.
The demonstration, echoing similar mobilizations in Geneva, Switzerland, has drawn attention with powerful slogans such as “Enough is Enough!”, “Let the world hear our voice”, “Implement the Pretoria Agreement Now!”, “Free our people under occupation”, and “End five years of life in camps.” These chants were repeatedly read aloud to an energized crowd, expressing collective frustration over prolonged displacement and hunger.
Participants, including elderly people, women, children, teachers, and students, have vowed to continue the rally throughout the day, possibly extending into the night. The protest reflects the growing impatience among displaced communities who say they have suffered enough and now demand decisive international action and accountability.
