Mekelle, January 14, 2025 – Three opposition parties in Tigray — Tigray Independence Party, National Congress of Great Tigray (Baytona), and Arena Tigray for Democracy and Sovereignty (Arena) — issued a joint statement today in support of the ongoing peaceful demonstration by internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Western Tigray.

In their statement, the parties highlighted the powerful message resonating from the protest, embodied in chants of “Enough is Enough” and “Return Us to Our Home.” The demonstration underscores the severe hardships endured by IDPs as they seek immediate solutions to their plight and demand their right to return home.

The opposition coalition condemned any attempts to exploit the genuine grievances of the protesters, warning against efforts to silence or undermine their voices. They reaffirmed their unwavering support for the demonstration and the legitimate demands of the people, which align with long-standing objectives championed by these parties. “‘Enough is Enough’ reflects the collective frustrations of the people,” the statement declared. “Their demands for justice, accountability, and prompt resettlement must be heard and addressed without delay.”
