Mekelle, February 7, 2025 (Tigray Mass Media Agency) Getachew Reda, President of the Interim Administration(IRA) in Tigray engages in discussion with Christine Pirenne, Ambassador of the Netherlands to Ethiopia focusing on the challenges posed by the incomplete implementation of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (CoHA).
President Getachew emphasizes that the delay in fully executing the CoHA has left numerous political issues unresolved within and outside, hindering progress in Peace and Stability in Tigray.
The President stresses on the IRA’s commitment to work for the full implementation of the CoHA’s, recognizing its significance in facilitating the Netherlands’ involvement in various flagship projects within Tigray. He underscores that addressing the political challenges stemming from the CoHA’s incomplete execution is crucial for fostering Peace and Stability in Tigray, international collaboration and advancing development initiatives by the Netherlands.
The Netherlands Ambassador acknowledges the concerns raised by President Getachew and expresses the Netherlands’ readiness to support efforts aimed at ensuring the comprehensive implementation of the CoHA. Both parties agree on the importance of collaborative approaches to overcome the current challenges and to promote sustainable development in Tigray.
The President indicates that meaningful progress in addressing the challenges of the CoHA requires the dignified return of internally displaced persons to their homes and the full restoration of Tigray’s territorial integrity within its constitutional borders.
During the discussion, President Getachew calls for the Federal government and the international community to further enhance their commitment for the full implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.
