On May 21, 2025, President of the Interim Administration in Tigray, Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede held a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, Ervin Massinga, to discuss recent developments in Tigray. During the discussion, the President stressed that top priorities of his office are the return of displaced persons and restoration of Tigray’s territorial integrity.
The President acknowledged the significant challenges faced in addressing these key issues and explained that negotiations with the Federal Government are ongoing to meet these needs in line with the Pretoria Peace Agreement. He also called on the U.S. government and other stakeholders to maintain their constructive support.
Ambassador Ervin Massinga on his part affirmed that the U.S. will provide all necessary assistance for the effective implementation of Pretoria Peace Agreement and the successful implementation of the tasks of the interim administration.
The two sides reportedly had an in-depth exchange on upcoming issues and reached consensus on all points discussed.
