Mekelle, November 12, 2024 (Tigrai Television) — A delegation of Irish archbishops, humanitarian organizations, and representatives of the Irish government was warmly welcomed in Mekelle today. The event, organized by the Tigray Catholic Church, was held to express gratitude to the people and government of Ireland for their support to Tigray especially during the war on the region.
The gathering was attended by members of the Menbere Salama Synod and representatives from various civil society organizations in Tigray. President of the Tigray Interim Administration, Getachew Reda, expressed heartfelt thanks for Ireland’s principled stance on Tigray’s cause, noting its unwavering advocacy on the international stage.
In his official X( formerly Twitter) post, President Getachew wrote: “We have expressed our heartfelt gratitude to the people & government of Ireland for their principled position in advocating the cause of the people of Tigray.”
The Irish delegation’s visit highlighted Ireland’s crucial role in bringing Tigray’s struggles to the world’s attention, particularly in Europe, and advocating for justice and accountability in the face of ongoing hardship.
