Tigray President Urges Expanded Support for Security and Justice Institutions in Meeting with UNDP

President Lt. Gen. Tadesse Woreda has emphasized the need for increased support to Tigray’s security and justice institutions, describing them as essential pillars for maintaining peace and stability in the region. The President made the remarks during a meeting with Dr. Monsef Kartis, Head of the UNDP Ethiopia Peace and Stability Project, where the two discussed ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Tigray and explored opportunities to scale up support. President Tadesse expressed appreciation for the contributions made by the Peace and Stability Project so far and called for its expansion to additional woredas. He stressed the importance of long-term solutions to address the region’s legal and security challenges. Dr. Kartis noted that the project is currently active in nine woredas and reaffirmed UNDP’s continued support. He also underscored their commitment to the implementation of the Pretoria Agreement and to strengthening institutions critical to sustaining peace and stability in Tigray.
