August 4, 2025 – Mekelle (Tigrai Mass Media Agency) Tigrai Culture and Tourism Bureau has announced a major travel facilitation for guests planning to attend the 2025 Ashenda Festival. In a recent meeting with a team from ET Holidays, a subsidiary of Ethiopian Airlines, the Bureau addressed key concerns regarding limited flight availability and rising airfare during the festive season.
According to the Bureau, both sides discussed how to improve mobility for international and domestic travelers flying the route Abroad–Addis Ababa–Tigrai and vice versa. As a result of the meeting, ET Holidays has agreed to provide a 20% discount on flights to and from Tigrai throughout the Ashenda celebration period.
An official agreement has already been signed to implement this initiative, which is expected to ease access and encourage higher guest turnout for the Tigray’s iconic cultural festival.
Ashenda, a vibrant cultural event celebrating girls and women, is one of the most anticipated festivals in Tigray, drawing visitors from within Ethiopia and abroad.
