Mekelle, August 4, 2025 (Tigrai Mass Media Agency) Tigray Bureau of Communication Affairs has issued a statement in response to a report released by the Amhara Regional Communication Office on July 31, 2025, which it describes as unconstitutional, provoking tension and in violation of the Pretoria Agreement.

In its statement, the Bureau condemns the report published by Amhara Regional Communication Office which reads: “a road has been inaugurated and opened to traffic in Zerbabit vicinity of Wolkayit Tsegede Setit Humera Kabteya Humera district in Amhara Region.”

The Bureau asserts that Kafta Humera is a legally and historically recognized part of Tigray, and any attempt to portray incorporating the constitutionally recognized territory of Tigray into Amhara Region constitutes a continuation of the past and persistent infringements upon Tigray’s constitutionally established boundaries. “This irresponsible act that violates the constitution and in direct breach of the Pretoria Agreement is unacceptable and requires immediate correction” the statement reads.

The Bureau urges the Amhara Regional Communication Office to immediately cease its repeated and irresponsible actions that undermine peaceful coexistence between the people of the two regions and risk inciting further conflict, and to take corrective measures against those responsible for publishing such reports.

The bureau also calls on the federal government to take legal measures against institutions that violate the constitutional order.
