Mekelle, August 13, 2025 (Tigray mass Media Agency)-In an event organized by Commission of Inquiry on Tigray Genocide on August 13, 2025, the Commission has released the findings of its investigation exposing genocide-related crimes, human rights violations, and the ongoing dire conditions faced by internally displaced persons in over 92 camps under the adminstration of Interim Government in Tigray.
The findings of the Inquiry Commission show that thousands of IDPs are living in overcrowded tents, exposed to extreme weather without adequate shelter, food, or clothing, and deprived of basic necessities for survival. These conditions, it reported, have caused severe psychological trauma, worsened illnesses, and led to deaths.

Presenting the findings, legal experts Gebremeskel Haylu and Berhane Gebrezher emphasizes that the displaced population of Tigray is “living between life and death,” with many describing their future as “dark and uncertain.” The report also reveals that children and the elderly are once again being subjected to unlawful displacement.

Speaking at the event, President of Interim Administration in Tigray, Lt. Gen. Tadesse Werede recognizes the findings of the Commission of Inquiry, emphasizing their role in bringing international attention to the plight of displaced Tigrayans. He commends professionals and institutions to strengthen their effort to conduct research in an organized manner to expose the suffering of the displaced communities. The President asserts that the issues of returning the displaced communities and restoring the territorial integrity of Tigray remain a priority for the administration.
The Commission urges the international community to take swift action to save the lives of displaced Tigrayans, ensure their protection, and provide immediate humanitarian assistance.
The event in Mekelle is attended by authorities from interim administration, government officials, academics from all universities in Tigray, political party representatives, and religious leaders.
