Dori Asgedom, Chair of the Assimba Democratic Party, revealed on Monday that Eritrean forces have made significant advancements into Ethiopian territory, capturing the entirety of the Irob region.

“It’s been two days since electricity and telecommunication services were cut off in the entire Irob. Elements of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces have also vacated the area. Additionally, the Eritrean Army has advanced as far as Ayga,” Dori wrote on Facebook.

This development follows closely on the heels of a video released by the Center for Research and Documentation, purportedly a primary outlet for Eritrean government propaganda, showcasing Eritrean officials coercing individuals in Irob, Eastern #Tigray, to abandon their identity.

“The Eritrean government asserts that this land falls within Eritrean territory and is primarily designated for Eritrean citizens,” an Eritrean official asserted.

According to Dori, the actions of the Eritrean Army constitute a violation of international human rights law.

“The international community must compel the Eritrean army to withdraw from Irob and other areas in Tigray,” he insists.
