President Getachew Reda welcomes Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia and his delegation in his office this morning.
The large delegation led by China’s Amabassador to Ethiopia Zhao Zhiyuan includes officials from the Embassy of China to Ethiopia, and leaders of the Chinese enterprises in Tigrai.
The Ambassador called on the Federal government and the Tigrai IRA to pull their efforts together with the government of China to immediately address issues of concern.
The Ambassador said that he had visited Mekelle Industrial Park on Sunday which gave him and his delegation an insight about the developments after the signing of the peace deal. He said his embassy will work on encouraging enterprises who fled the war to quickly resume operations and invite others to invest on the reconstruction of infrastructure in Tigrai.
Ambassador Zhao Zhiyuan also indicated that Chinese Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa will soon visit Mekelle to meet officials of the Tigrai IRA Cabinet.
The Ambassador’s visit to Tigrai is the first ever visit to a region in Ethiopia by China’s Embassy.
