Central Committee for the Tigrai Peoples Liberation Front issued a statement in support to the Pretoria Peace Deal where it said the party will dedicate itself to the full implementation of the accord.
The statement however denounced the way the agreement addressed the Tigrai Defense Forces as TPLF combatants. It said “According to the constitution TPLF cannot possess armed forces and it actually does not own one.”
“It is well known that Tigrai Defense Forces are forces of resistance created to protect their people from a genocidal campaign and that they don’t belong to any political party.” Statement read.
The Central Committee has also noted that TPLF as a party has not named any negotiating team. “Our people, the international community, stakeholders and other concerned bodies should know that there is no any entity representing TPLF”
