Mekelle – Nov. 13, 2022 – In a statement earlier today, the government of Tigrai says it accepts the peace agreement since the basic principles of the accord can ensure the very survival of the people of Tigrai.
The government of Tigrai commended all participants including mediators, the African Union, the Unites States, the government of the Republic of South Africa, the government of the Republic of Kenya. “We also highly commend the UN & EU for their nonstop effort to bring the negotiated-end to the conflict” statement read.
The statement stresses on points that it says needs to be corrected, such as referring the Tigrai delegation as TPLF and the Tigrayan forces as TPLF combatants. “The negotiating-team represents the government and the people of Tigrai not TPLF” statement noted.
The statement also denounced the call for a change the current government of Tigrai. It says “An elected government can only be removed and changed by the people of Tigrai not by a cessation of hostilities agreement”
