Mekelle, December 7, 2022 (Tigrai Television) Tigrai Electric Utility says Mekelle reconnected to the national power grid.

In an exclusive interview with Tigrai Television Head of communication affairs in the office says Mekelle was reconnected to the national power grid on Tuesday after 18 months of blackout.

The Head appreciated the initiative taken while raising his concerns over the lack of fuel, vehicles, and related financial problems to buy essential materials. He says “Mekoni. Wuqro, Adigrat, and Abiy-Adi are other towns reconnected with the national power grid.” “Central zone except for the town of Abiy-Adi, the entire Northwestern and Western Tigrai zones are yet to be reconnected.” He added.

The Head also says the peace agreement should be fully implemented for the suffering of the people to end.

Most parts of Tigrai have been in a complete blackout right after Tigrayan forces captured the capital of Tigrai Mekelle in June of 2021.
