In response to allegations made by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) claiming the involvement of TPLF forces in the Sudanese civil war, the Interim Administration of Tigray has denied and condemned these accusations as unfounded and misleading.

“The Interim Administration of Tigray vehemently denies, and strongly condemns, the baseless claim made by the RSF,” stated the official statement released by the Tigray Interim Regional Administration earlier today.

Highlighting the historical ties between the people of Tigray and Sudan, the statement emphasized Sudan’s role in providing refuge to thousands of displaced Tigrayans during the conflict. “The people of Tigray have a longstanding brotherly relationship with the Sudanese people that has stood the test of time.”

“Tigray has no reason to meddle in the ongoing civil war for it would futher harm a country regarded by Tigrayans as their second home,” the statement added

Expressing concern over the detrimental effects of foreign intervention in internal conflicts, the administration urged both sides to prioritize dialogue over military escalation to address underlying political issues.

“We urge both sides to refrain from inflammatory statements that contribute to further escalation, and come to the negotiating table to find a political solution to the ongoing tragedy,” the statement stressed.

Statement also highlights efforts are underway  in collaboration with the Ethiopian federal government to address the concerns of Tigrayan refugees and resolve outstanding issues related to combatants, as part of the broader Pretoria Agreement.

“The Interim Administration of Tigray remains committed to peaceful resolution and urges all parties involved to engage in constructive dialogue for the sake of stability and the well-being of the Sudanese people.”
