Tigray IRA declared three-day national mourning period to honor veterans sacrificed in the war on Tigrai

Mekelle, October 8 (Tigrai Television)- Tigray Interim Administration declared three-day national mourning period to honor veterans who lost their lives fighting in the ranks of the Tigray Defense Forces against Ethiopian forces and their allies, the Eritrean Defense forces and Amhara Forces.

In a media briefing on Monday, former chief of the Tigrayan forces and Deputy President of the Tigray IRA Tadesse Werede(Gen.) stated that the national mourning period will begin on October 13 by official announcement of the deaths of fighters who sacrificed their lives during the war on Tigray.

“Arrangements have been finalized after a lot of scrutiny to officially announce the death of combatants in a way that “can designate the martyrs’ heroism.”, The Deputy President noted.

The general denounces the informal announcements of combatants’ death; he stressed on the importance of waiting for the official announcement from governmental authorized bodies only.

He emphasized on the priceless sacrifice the veterans have paid to save the people of Tigrai from genocidal assault.

Taddesse Werede (Gen.) called on all Tigrians who live at every corner of the world to “primarily consider this period of mourning as a priority.”

It is to be recalled that President Geatchew Reda hinted on period that the day of mourning would be declared during a media briefing a week ago.

During the media briefing, the president accredited the progress that has been made in inspecting the information of the combatants which plays a part in delaying the announcement.

The president states the ongoing announcement of deaths of the fighters in unofficial manner disregards the heroism of the martyrs
