Mekelle, June 11, 2023 (Tigrai Television)- Tigrai IRA President Getachew Reda travels to Bahrdar, in a first visit by a Tigrian official to Amhara Regional State since 2020, as he seeks to mend fractured ties.
Amhara Regional President Yilkal Kefale welcomed President Getachew and his delegation as they touched down at Bahirdar Dejazmach Belay Zeleke Airport this noon.
President Getachew along his delegation is expected to discuss with the officials from the Amhara Regional State, amongst others, on renewing people-to-people links between the two neighboring regions.
Ties between both regions started to crack on the eve of the war. But strongly fractured after the resumption of the war on Tigrai as Amhara Regional forces fought alongside Ethiopian National Defense Forces to occupy Western Tigrai and parts of Southern Tigrai.
